After an early start and a 3 hr ferry ride later (bizarre ferry as it had two cinemas on it? - I resisted the urge though) we arrived on the South island but it was still a bus journey to our next stop Nelson - we got to our accommodation for the next two nights but think we drew the short straw as we seemed to have the smallest room, no bother really as Rich is worse then anyone else we could get in the room as he farts all the time (i'm sure he wakes people up doing it!) On our spare day in Nelson we didn't really do much, had a chilled day and took a walk around the town, but that evening we decided to take a sunset walk up the centre of New Zealand (think this is about my 100th walk in NZ alone!) we got there a little before sunset though and after some pictures took a walk back down. Forgot to say the night we arrived they offered another roast (once again Dave salivated!) but still didn't quite live up to the one at home and has now given up until he gets one from his Mum! We stayed in the pub that night and had a few drinks - it was a pub just like at home - very English.

Our next stop was Westport, not really sure why they stop you here - they do offer a few activities but none that haven't been offered nor that are any cheaper elsewhere? Still had a great night though as it was a fab little hostel and had a kitchen like out of a cosy cottage but....it also had Lord of the Rings 1, 2 and 3 on DVD! Dave was quick to put this on and ended up with nearly the whole bus watching the first two films (not hard core enough to have a full Lord of the Rings marathon) but good to catch up on places that we had been to e.g. we have visited the but in the 2nd movie where Golom catches and then eats a fish!
