I wonder if anyone has ever worked out the Carbon Footprint of New York City.I'm not even sure New Yorkers know what the environment is.Let alone how to be friendly to it.In the whole time we were there we saw only 2 hatchback cars, the rest where giant black shiny things that looked like small armored tanks.And don't even get me started on excess packaging, plastic bag use………………..
Now, you'd be forgiven for thinking we didn't' enjoy New York, au contraire.
I'm not really sure what to include in this blog, our visit to The Empire State Building at night - spectacular.Our visit to Trump Towers in 5th Avenue - unimpressive (I'd even go as far as to say crap).The biggest meat sandwich we've ever seen (see the photos) - gross!Our run through Central Park - cold and wet.The police who switched on their loud speaker in their 'squad' car to tell us to run faster - funny. My 10hour day of shopping - tiring.Duncan's day of stomach churning roller coasters or our first ever live baseball game - different……………
New York Yankies v Toronto Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium.American baseball players are among the 'chunkiest' elite sports persons we've ever seen.Their large bellies would give Warney and Boonie a run for their money!!The game itself is actually pretty boring.I don't' think I'm the only one that thinks so, there was so much entertainment (including the gravel raking guys doing a rendition of the YMCA whist raking the gravel) that you'd be forgiven for thinking you where at some strange concert rather than a sporting event.
Then there is the food.As we all know American's aren't really known for their moderate portions and healthy eating.If ever we had any doubts we were certainly set straight on the first morning when we ordered French Toast for breakfast……… it came with a side of melted butter.I'm not even sure what we were supposed to do with it.Drink It?Dunk?Pour Over????
Generally when people think of New York they think of Time Square.It's not less bizarre in real life as it appears in movies and pictures.Everything is lit up in a multitude of lights.The theaters, the shops, the restaurants and bars, the subway, the police station………….No joke, I'm sure it must be the only police station in the world to haves it's name displayed in flashing lights.
So did we like it?Yes!Would be ever go back?Hell Yes!

We tried to go to a BBQ restaurant they suggest in Memphis and when we got there it was not only out of business but it was also in a sketchy neighborhood. The information about Graceland was incomplete, no address at all, only a website (if you buy the book is because you don't have internet in the car or phone right?). A good thing that the book has is a map with milage and time between major cities.
