Hello!!
Well i'm in Bangkok and what a crazy chaotic place this is!! Insane traffic, funny smells, pavements that you trip up on all the time because they're so uneven, a complete jumbled mess that we have found ourselves lost in 2days running, walking along main roads right next to crazy traffic because the pavements are filled with people and stalls, but I like it!!
We've been here 2 full days and to be honest-havent seen many of the main attractions! Thats not for lack of trying - but today we walked miles and only saw one of the things we wanted too! None of the street signs appeared to be on the map we had so we spent most of the day trying to figure out where we were!
So far we have managed to find Jim Thompsons house, who was an american man that helped with the export of thai silk. It was a lovely house(houses) and our little thai tour guide had the sweetest accent! We have seen a couple of huge beautiful temples, one with a massive reclining buddah, very cool!
We've been in some crazy indoor market shopping malls that we just got lost in and spent hours walking round the different floors! The shopping malls aren't quite as cool or posh as singapore but they have some very funky art around. Today there is loads of big sunflower things around - can't figure out why, but they look funky!! We've been to the cinema, where we had reclining chairs and had to stand up before the film started to sing the national anthem in honour of the king! Quite an experience! I know we have some weird tv adverts back home but some of the ones before the film were just bizarre - they were in thai but we couldn't make any sense of them - just plain crazy!
Interested in a holiday in Thailand?
Have a look at the great deals on offer now!
Tonight we went to an awesome restaurant called 'condoms and cabbages.' I know it probably sounds weird but it is so cool and I'd definately recommend it! There are lampshades, flowers, table decorations and loads of other stuff made out of condoms. Plus mannequins that are dressed in clothes made of condoms too - its brilliant!! Its all in aid of promoting safe sex and stuff but many its just a random and fun place to eat - food is really good too!!
We have one day left here before heading to phuket for some beach time away from the city!! Hopefully we'll get to see a bit more and not get lost!! I haven''t been in a tuk tuk yet but definately will before I leave thailand!!
Hope everyone is good! Oh - if you read this please leave me a mesage to say hi or something - feel like i'm writing to myself and kelly (thanks smelly)
love you xxxxxxxxxxxx
