Melbourne, Victoria

We arrived in Melbourne and the weather took a turn for the better - woo! Looking around this new city and thinking its a strange place! Not in a bad way but theres actually buildings that look old here and have a bit of history, but dotted around all over the place are bizarre modern art sculptures and weird buildings that look like pieces of modern art. Stephen really hates them.. There seems to be lots of people running here - so many joggers especially by the river - I certainly did feel lazy sitting watching them whilst eating ice cream!

We went out one evening for A guy called Martijn's birthday (met on the tour) To try cut a very long story short we caught the tram down to where we were gonna meet, got asked to get off the tram by some tram police people and they reported us for not having a ticket and said we maybe fined $172!! And the girl that was with us had her feet on the chair at the time and she was supposed to get an extra $200 on top of that!! It was really quite ridiculous and unfair coz we didn't understand the system and it hadn't explained it anywhere! They said it'd be sent to our hostel address but we're out of there now and hadn't had anything before we left, one of the nicer guys said it'd porbably be ok anyway once we'd explained but they had to report it once they'd started so hopefully it'll get forgotten - It was STUPID!! And annoying. But when we did eventually meet up with everyone it was a good night!

Best thing in Melbourne was the Aussie open! The Williams sisters were playing a double match (which we qued for ages to get into but it was full just as we got to the front and no-one wanted to miss it so wouldn't leave their seats) So we took some photos of them as they came out and went to see some tennis! Some cool aussie men sat behind us in one game and chatted to us and bought us a drink - they were cool! And the best bit - I got to see Murray play and kick ass!! I normally hate watching it on tv but it was cool being in the stands - I got quite into it in the end!

The rest of the time in Melbourne we spent hanging out with people from the tour and more sight seeing, good times :)
