We left cairns and headed off down the coast towards magnetic island, but decided to hop off the greyhound before there and spend the night at a little place called mission beach, it was a quiet little town with a huge beautiful beach with a few islands also lying just offshore like the famous dunk island, with not much really to do here we got back on our bus the next morning and went straight down to magnetic island where we would be staying the next 3 days. "MAGGIE" as the locals call it, was absolutely beautiful, one of our favourite places so far i think, it lies only 8km off the coast of townsville but it is so different to the mainland. The first night we spent at horseshoe bay which was top and is wicked at sunset then the next 2 days we spent on the other side of the island between geoffrey and alma bay. There are plenty of world class hidden little beaches to sunbathe on and on our second we went around a few of the islands walking trails, the amount of wildlife on the island was amazing there are just mad animals running about everywhere, we saw rock wallibies , possums which are well funny, eagles and loads of wild koala bears really up close, it was really good to see! On our last day we hired out a car so we could get around and see more of the island that was just too far to walk to, it was a really nice day and we both become a little attatched to our little moke, next day we got on the ferry back to the mainland to head down to airlie beach and the whitsundays, and also erin was 23 today she is catching me up!
